Securing access to critical minerals for the energy transition

Webinar: Tuesday 21 May 2024, 11:00-12:00 BST

Global efforts to achieve net zero have led to an increased demand for renewable technologies, many of which are dependent on critical minerals such as copper, cobalt and lithium. The net result is a forecast deficit in the availability of most of the required critical minerals.

In this webinar, Baringa’s Andy Churr and Nikhita Swarnkar will discuss their research which identifies the real supply chain challenge is not due to scarcity but rather production capacity. The research also explores how those in the private sector can proactively secure access to the critical minerals needed for the energy transition.

We will also hear from Dr Philip Andrews-Speed, Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. Philip has more than 40 years in the field of energy and resources, starting his career as a mineral and oil exploration geologist before moving into the field of energy and resource governance. His research has been directed at the governance and regulation of energy and natural resources with a focus on Asia.
